For this project you will need:
- 2 Recollections 5 Drawer Letterpress Cube from Michael or Alex Drawer from Ikea. $75
- Wood for the desk top from Lowes. $20
- Gorilla Glue $4
- Measure Tape, Screw Driver, and handy person to put it together (Thank God for my Husband).
For My desk I use the Michael Recollections 5 Drawer Letterpress Cube because it was on sell. I got two for the price of one Alex drawer from Ikea (the price for Alex drawer is $80). Michaels is always running a half off the price for the Recollection Drawers. There are mix reviews on the Michaels drawers, but they are perfect to me. I haven’t had any problems with them. I honestly think it is because my husband put it together for me and added gorilla glue in some of the areas to keep it together pretty tight. Click the link here to shop the Drawers.
For the table top I went to Lowes with the measurement of how long I wanted my desk. All you have to do is have your measurement for the length and pick out the piece of wood you would like to use. I choose a wood with a nice white finish. Make sure it is long enough to use for your desk. If the wood you pick out is to long, Lowes will cut it for you with no extra charge.
Now you have both the Drawers put together and the tabletop is ready to go on top. I use gorilla glue to attach the top of table to the drawers. You will definitely need two people to get this on tight and even. I put some heavy books on each side of the desk to apply pressure for 24 hours before the desk was ready to be used. Now it is time to design your desk however you please.
